Congressman Dr. Greg Murphy Speaks at EWN Groundbreaking – New Bern, NC Investment

New Bern, NC

Congressman Dr. Greg Murphy recently visited new Bern for a historical groundbreaking at New Bern Airport (EWN). Speaking to the assembled crowd of civic leaders and citizens, Congressman Murphy highlighted the need for continued infrastructure investment in Eastern North Carolina. The expansion of the airport was only part of the growth in public and private investments being made in Eastern North Carolina as the region sees no end to growth.

The airport manager, Andy Shorter, worked tirelessly to bring the new investment to the growing airport. Working in cooperation with the city of New Bern the airport secured major expansions for future airlines to take advantage of. The demand for air travel out of New Bern is only increasing and more flights are expected to be announced as investments continue.

At a previous unrelated event, Chemac Inc.’s  Vilma Coveli, met Dr. Greg Murphy and discussed his work in Washington DC. Vilma, a German native, was very impressed with Congressman Murphy. “Congressman Murphy is a very interesting person to speak with”, she said. “He is extremely intelligent, has a great sense of humor and even remembers lessons from his high school German class to hold a conversation in German…almost as if he studied in Germany. I was impressed by Dr. Murphy and his focus on always improving North Carolina… I am glad he is representing us in Washington”, she said. Congressman Murphy promotes smart future investment and development of North Carolina and regularly appears at similar events highlighting the needs and successes in the region.

Craven county is already home to some big manufacturers including Bosch (BSH), Moen, Potash Corp., International Paper, Weyerhaeuser, Hatteras Yachts, Wirthwein, and many others.  Chemac is a proud member of this growing community and we are grateful for people like Congressman Murphy, Andy Shorter, Representative Steve Tyson and many other community leaders who continue to make this area a great place to live and work.
