Although at times it seems the winter weather is forgetting most regions, it comes back with a vengeance. During extreme temperatures, it is important to check critical equipment more regularly. High-pressure pumps, engines, and other equipment can be left outdoors in some severe environments, but it is critical to make sure the systems are running smoothly and are ready for the harsh temperatures.
Chemac highly recommends checking outdoor equipment regularly as the temperature can swing in some regions 20-50 degrees Fahrenheit in a matter of hours. Lubricating, flushing units and other components of pump systems require regular checking during harsh temperatures.
To protect outdoor systems, Chemac highly recommends pump housings to keep equipment and operators protected from wind and weather, especially in areas with extreme high and low temperatures. In some cases, it may not be desirable to put pumping equipment into housing. In this case, the Uraca and Bungartz pumps have proven records for outdoor durability and longevity. Nevertheless, we recommend making sure all systems are ready for the extreme temperatures and the best time to do this is before the seasons change.
