In Memory of Horst Schneider – Founder of Chemac

Leonia, NJ – October 20

Horst was laid to rest in Paramus, NJ after a service at St John’s Church in Leonia NJ on October 18, 2023 he was 83 years young.

Horst made many friends during his lifetime and enjoyed life. He believed in fairness, generosity, and kindness. He is remembered fondly by all those who knew him or worked with him.  After his passing, calls came in from all over the world from old friends, contacts, and people touched by his kindness all sharing their regrets after hearing the sad news.

The following obituary was provided by his grand-daughter Hannah Schneider in Texas -

“On June 8, 1940, in Wiesbaden, Germany on a foggy day, Horst Schneider was born to the late Leodegar and Apollonia (nee: Steinheimer) Schneider. He was an avid animal lover, a big New York Rangers hockey fan, who enjoyed fine dining (his favorite was Pork Shank), he was a patron of the arts and contributed a life of service through his affiliation with the prestigious Rotary Club of New York District 7230 where he served as the President of the Club from 1995 to 1996. Horst worked as an engineer and was a determined entrepreneur who founded Chemac Inc. in 1966. He spent most of his life living in New Jersey and frequently attended services at St. John the Evangelist Church.

On Friday, October 13, 2023, he left us to rejoin his parents in heaven. Today he is survived by his four children: As well as his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rest in Peace Opa, your determination and perseverance runs in all of us. You will be deeply missed by your family and friends.”
