The New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a meaningful ceremony unveiling a commemorative plaque in honor of Horst Schneider, the late founder of Chemac, Inc. Horst Schneider, was remembered not only for his entrepreneurial vision but also for his deep commitment to community engagement and service.
Horst established Chemac, Inc. in 1966, building it into a respected provider of industrial high-pressure machinery and equipment with a reputation for quality and customer support. Under his vision, Chemac grew to support a wide range of industries while always maintaining a strong involvement in the local business community.
At the ceremony- attended by local business leaders, chamber representatives, and members of the Schneider family- the plaque was unveiled inside the Chamber of Commerce as a permanent tribute to Schneider’s legacy. Speakers highlighted his entrepreneurial spirit, his genuine interest in fostering community growth, and the lasting impact of his contributions to both his company and the region.
The tribute stands as a reminder of Schneider’s belief in community involvement and service — values that continue to shape the culture at Chemac and inspire those who work with and around the company.
In Loving Memory of Horst Schneider
This room is dedicated to the memory of Horst Schneider, founder and President of Chemac, Inc. from 1966 to 2012. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, on June 8, 1940, he passed in Washington, D.C., on October 13, 2023. Horst was dedicated to "service above self." As a longtime Rotarian and past president of the NY Rotary Club #6, his generous nature, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit paved his way from poor, humble beginnings to business leader, father, grandfather, and humanitarian. Horst would be proud of Chemac, Inc.'s continued legacy in support of organizations, including the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, Samaritan's Purse, and other charities.
