Chemac has been a nurturing platform for student interns from diverse backgrounds for over 30 years. We invite students from local educational institutions near our facilities in New Bern, NC, and Alvin, TX, as well as those nationwide, to apply for internships. Our past interns include talented individuals from prestigious institutions like Purdue, Georgia Tech, Berkeley, as well as world-renowned manufacturers such as Uraca, Uhde, and Siemens.
Interning at Chemac means immersing yourself in a workplace based on the esteemed Swabian work ethic. Each intern’s project, no matter how small, plays a vital role in our mission and can even address community needs. For instance, interns in 2024 were tasked with identifying a civil engineering project to improve safety in our community. Their project required project identification, analysis, measurement, research, and development of a detailed report.
They used this method to successfully advocate for safety improvements with the regional North Carolina Representative for a road they deemed hazardous. Their initiative led to the safety
concern being resolved by the State of North Carolina by allocating resources to fix the hazardous road conditions. This exercise demonstrated the impact of our interns' training and the positive impact it can have on the community.
